I created this portrait for the Barnabas Collins Portrait contest. I decided to do at least one entry in charcoal, because it is one of my best mediums, and I feel like I can capture some features of the face a lot better in it. So the basis of this portrait was acutally a photograph taken of Johnny in the 90's. I loved the angle of the face, and I thought it would help to really show off Barnabas. The other feature that I really wanted to incorporate was the hands. Barnabas has such long, spindley fingers that are so distinctive.
I know it's not perfect but I do have to say that I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! Wish me luck!

I love the medium you've chosen. You are right about the angle of the face and the elongated fingers. This is an interesting portrait on so many levels, very well done. Good luck to you!
